Oh Yeah, I’m Published
Posted December 6th, 2007 by LizRemember this? I just realized I never wrote about the other book…

One of my favorite authors is Dave Eggers. He’s sarcastic, witty, and he happens to be really adorable. He also is the editor of a series of books called “The Best American Nonrequired Reading”, a new installment comes once a year. It features comics, poetry, short stories, and now, six-word memoirs. I’d never read this series before, but my brother had, and I knew they were full of good things. I was extremely excited to get another email from Rachel Fershleiser, who is editing Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure. She informed me that I had been chosen by the The Best American Nonrequired Reading committee to be in the 2007 edition. I was elated, to say the least.
I found out yesterday that it had been released, and rushed to the bookstore to purchase it. In the store, I discovered my six-word memoir was on page 12, and was the first of the section! My name, in print, for thousands to see. I showed it to my mom in the store, and she told almost everyone that her sixteen year old was a published writer–and not just published in a newspaper, no, published in a book! I was beet red, but basking in her pride. I’m proud of myself, too. I’m talented, and on my way to greater things.
Oh and, BUY IT!
